PENTECOST SUNDAY & CHURCH TOWN
MEETING, MAY 31, 2009
The Fire of the Holy Spirit Among Us
The congregation gathers after Pentecost Sunday worship to explore the future of our church. Where are we going? Where do we want to be in 5 years? What do we need to accomplish to get there?
After the presentation, the congregation divided into four groups to explore ideas to make our church better, grow membership, extend our discipleship and programs. Each group contained a representation of most recent and longest serving members. The task force will report back on the ideas and begin to form a five-year plan of action.
At right, today's conformation class moves through the congregation waving the flames of the Holy Spirit, symbolized by the red banners.
At left, lay leaders Paula Martasian and Jay Hickey led the presentation in the fellowship hall, site of the original sanctuary of the church. The cross indicates where the original altar stood for worship before the new sanctuary was constructed.
