You
never know when you will meet old friends.

Before beginning their mission work in New Orleans last week, The Rev. Richard Garland and his wife Cathy built in some leisure time to take in the sights of the city. While strolling down Bourbon Street in N'Awlin's iconic French Quarter, Dick was surprised to see two familiar faces among the passers-by. Jim Seymour (at left in photo) and Michael Havener, former members of North Kingstown UMC, were also visiting the city. Jim and Mike, now retired and living in Florida, asked Dick to extend their best wishes and blessings to the congregation back in Rhode Island. Jim and Mike, consider the greetings passed on.
Editor's note - As a former resident of New Orleans, I know there are many ways to pronounce the name of the city. Natives prefer N'Awlins or New-OR-linz. Uptowners like the classic French pronunciation: New-OR-lee-Ans. But they all agree on one thing: You never call it New-Orleens! I can also report that you'd be hard pressed to find a city any where in the country with friendlier, more welcoming people.
