It’s All About Searching By Larry Price Editor WWW.NKUMCRI.COM Published March 20, 2008 Someone asked me why we published news and photos about our Easter Sunrise Worship on the website so early this year. It’s been there for many weeks. First of all, Easter is an important event on the Christian calendar, a joyous day when we celebrate Christ’s victory over death which holds a promise of eternal life for all of us. Secondly, Easter comes early this year—the second earliest date possible when calculating the date for Easter. There’s also a third reason. We wanted to ensure that our Easter sunrise service would show up in search engines when people go to the Internet looking for a sunrise service in our community. If you Google “Easter Sunrise North Kingstown,” you’ll find our website comes up at or near the top of the search list. It’s estimated there are now over 135 million websites, 112 million blogs, and 38,000 podcasts on the Internet. In 1999, only 5% of U. S. homes had a high speed internet connection. Today, broadband connections are in over 80% of the homes. The Internet is growing at a phenomenal rate. And when people are looking for information on the Internet, it’s all about searching. A website has become a valuable outreach of our church’s ministry and its mission—to grow disciples for Christ. We’re a welcoming community of believers and we want the world to know that we would love to share the joy of the Easter message with everyone. If you’re searching for a place to celebrate Easter, or searching for answers in life, we hope you’ll find us and know that you’ll always be welcomed at our church. If you’re a first time visitor, please know you’ll be warmly greeted by friendly people who will welcome you with a smile, but no pressure. We want to make your worship experience joyous and comfortable. We hope you will come back to visit us again. Wherever you go to celebrate Easter, we hope your day will be joyous and inspiring. You’ll find an Easter sunrise stirs the soul and it’s the best answer when life is all about searching. Our Easter sunrise service begins at 6:30 AM at the North Kingstown Town Beach, at the end of Beach Street, off Route 1A. The sun comes up at 6:43 AM. It will be cool, but we expect dry weather, a gorgeous sunrise and a beautiful message. We hope to see you there!
