Church Yard Sale Recycles Good and Gently Used Treasures and Raises Funds for Worthy Causes, Saturday April 25, 2009

---Not counting the silent auction items, the yard sale netted $1,622 in fund raising.

The Spring Fling Yard Sale raised funds for several causes--Habitat for Humanity, mission work in Sierra Leone, and God's work at North Kingstown UMC. Early bird shoppers swooped down long before the yard sale officially opened at 10 AM to snap up bargains of jewelry, household items, books, clothing, kitchen ware, toys, bicycles. The event also featured a silent auction of special items donated by church members, including a large quilt (photo at left) and a week's stay on Block Island. At right, Ellen Jacke, who coordinated the yard sale project, is all smiles as she scans the shoppers and brisk business.

Items not sold at the end of the day were donated to the Salvation Army and the North Kingstown Seniors Center which will be holding a sale in May.
